Need a "goodnight" song...

My mom has always (and still) sings "the morning song" in the morning, to whomever she is with (or calls) in the morning. :-) You've probably heard it... it goes like this...

Good morning to you,
you live in a zoo,
you look like a monkey,
and smell like one too!

I've been singing this to the babies when they wake up in the morning and from naps. The books say this is good because it will help them know when it's time to wake up and help them be happy when waking. (Jackson can be grumpy sometimes in the morning, like his dad!)

Now, "the books" also say we need a nighttime routine. A little dance, rocking, reading, bath, song, etc. to let them know it's time to go to sleep. So I'm in search of a "goodnight song." It needs to be short like the morning song. I'm thinking something like a classic rock song or something else modern... I was considering Imagine by John Lennon. It has to be a calming, slow song...

Any suggestions?

  2. There's:
    Mr. Moon, Mr. Moon
    You're up too soon
The sun is still in the sky
Go back to to your bed
    And cover up your head
And wait til the day goes by

  3. sorry, no little songs. I was the morning person and Roger was the bedtime person. The kids liked his made up stories the best. They didn't want to hear him sing lol

  4. Our night routine is VERY short, and has gotten even shorter now. But it really was good to do because they do know that when I put the sleep sack on, it is time to sleep!

Anyway, we put them in a sleep sack (swaddled when younger), rock for a few minutes while singling Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and give them a paci.

So funny because I have forgotten any children's songs I used to know, so when I was thinking of a good night song, that was the only one I could think of. Plus when Sofia was really little, the only song that calmed her down was singing the ABC song- which is the same tune as Twinkle Twinkle :)
