"Thank you"

When I get snacks or drinks for the kids I usually prepare two at once and then hand them each their own. For instance, I'll fill two sippy cups with juice/water and then hand one to each baby. Usually, if only one baby is underfoot at the time, that baby will grab both cups and take one to the other baby. Yesterday, Veronica was handing Jackson his snack and he followed with a quite clear, "thank you." So sweet!

I found out today that the nanny taught them to do this (at least partly). I wonder sometimes what things the kids do that they learned from her. In a way it makes me sad because I want them to learn everything from me! But mostly I'm happy that they're learning stuff - good stuff. I think they learned to hug their stuffed animals from her. And maybe to put their cups on the kitchen table when they're not drinking from them. Or they may have learned that from Dick. Or maybe they just do it. Who knows!? I suppose most of their lives they will be learning things from many different sources.

I'm happy when I hear them parroting me, though. Veronica has been saying "hey, you" and "ohhhhh." And I know she gets those from me. :-) Jackson says, "uh oh" (but it's more like, "uh ooooh." Also cute and from both Dick and I.

  1. Olivia has been saying "hello" with a pretend phone to her ear. You know she's mimicking her mom and dad (mom more :))

  2. they are little sponges. When Maggie doesn't want something she says "no thank you". As in "here let me clean your nose." "no thank you". And they are learning from everything you do... watch your step. My friends son called her "honey" because her husband did. They'd be in the store and if they got seperated he'd be calling "Honey!". lol Oh yeah, and if you say S*@t, that's their new best word. Isn't it fun watching?
