Jackson and Veronica love to go to the library! We typically go every three weeks when our books are due. The first day we have our new books they want to read them all! After that, some we keep reading, some we forget about until it's time to take them back. We let J and V pick the books we read before nap and bedtime - so whatever they pick is fine and they often will pick an old favorite or whatever they happen to grab. Sometimes I'll try to suggest something (like one of our library books) because I get tired of reading the same ones sometimes!
At the library yesterday I needed to ask the children's librarian for a recommendation. The kids always engage her in conversation - very cute! And she's great with the kids. Yesterday she told us that February is Library Lover's Month. The kids got to write their favorite things about the library on a paper heart that she taped to a wall display. In exchange they got a chocolate kiss!
The kids always want to play on the computer for a bit. They finally added headphones so the kids can actually hear the kid games (before headphones they had the sound way down so no one could hear the games). The mouse was a little frustrating for them because it was very sensitive, and we don't have a regular mouse at home. But they did ok playing a Dora dress-up game.
Then they joined me picking out books. They know that their are stickers on the sides of the books that indicate somewhat what the book is about. So Jackson always looks for cats! They get really excited picking out the books. We left yesterday with 22!
The kids always want to read them in the car on the way home. And they always want me to read the books to them right away when we get home. Yesterday dinner was a little late because of it. Oh well!
I'm proud that J and V love to read books. Everyone once in a while I'll catch them reading a book by themselves, "reading" it aloud! And a few books they can fill in the blanks with some of the words (especially Doctor Seuss!) One book, an early reader, they actually have memorized. :-)
