This weekend I feel like I'm "living the dream!"
Saturday night Dick and I were treated (by his company) to a black tie fundraising event. Dick has been involved with the non-profit group which provides science education to disadvantaged kids utilizing the ocean (and real research) to teach them. They don't touch lots of kids with a little education, but a few kids with very in-depth education/training/experience. But anyway... cool group. (Ocean Discovery Institute.)
We got all fancied up (Dick rented a tux, I wore a floor length "gown.") :-) We had cocktails. A lovely dinner. Hob nobbed with Dick's co-workers and bosses. Saw quite a few local celebrities in the crowd and also noticed Al Gore was there! It was fun.
Today we had a birthday party to go to for a five year old. It was at an arcade/mini amusement park place (go-carts, kiddie rides, etc). It was fun. The kids got to ride some rides. We had lunch. Chatted with other parents.
Later this evening we walked down to the nearby park for a concert in the park. It was a modern/dance cover band. They were fun. The park was filled with people - eating, playing, dancing, talking! We had dinner in our camp chairs then played in the grass and on the playground. It was very fun.
So, since we were busy, and since it's been excruciatingly hot, we have not done much work around the house (cleaning, yard work, home improvements). That can wait, right!?

That does sound like a fun weekend! Glad you enjoyed it :) and yes there are many things that can wait while you enjoy life. :)
ReplyDeletehousework can always wait when there's a life to live ;) We love our music in the park here. On Friday nights there's music at the courthouse lawn in Howell and on Sundays there music at the Mill pond in Brighton. We like to enjoy both often through the summer. We usually ride the motorcycle to them and stroll around before enjoying more riding on the countryside.
