Well, it's 5 days until Christmas already! I can't believe this but I finished my shopping about a week ago. I'm actually pretty proud of myself - I took both twins, in the rain, to the mall (outdoor mall, as most are in SD), and did almost all my Christmas shopping in less than 2 hours! :-) The next day, I got out of the house at 8:30 after feeding babies, while Dick was sleeping and shipped the gifts at the post office as soon as they opened. I'm sorry but I'm proud of myself! We also have the tree up! I do still need to get my cards out - and finish wrapping a few things but I don't think I did too bad considering I have 4 mo old twins at home! (By the way, your Christmas cards may not make it by Christmas!)
Today we ventured out as a family - including Bonnie - to the beach! We took poor, neglected Bonnie to dog beach because she deserves some fun once in a while! I am planning to take her again next weekend as her official Christmas present. Dick and I both wore a baby in a Baby Bjorn. They mostly slept but did open their eyes and looked around a bit. I'm sure the fresh, cool air was good for them. (And by "cool" I mean 60 degrees - my apologies to all you folks suffering through the midwestern blizzards right now!)
What else is going on...? The babies are on a lovely schedule of eating every 3 hours during the day at 6 am, 9 am, noon, 3 pm and 6 pm-ish. They go to bed around 7:30 or 8 and then daddy wakes them to eat again around 10 or 11 so they'll sleep til 5:30 or so. We've got a good system going - just in time for it to change probably! After they eat they usually stay awake for 1.5 to 2 hours playing with mommy or hangin' out in the activity mat. I watch them and feel like I'm getting good at recognizing their sleepy signs and try to put them down before they get overtired. If we take a walk or something (go to Target or Vons!) they will be mostly awake but snooze a little - then they'll be sleepier after their next feeding and might only stay awake for an hour.
They'll kill me in 18 years for putting this in writing but I think their new formula is making them constipated. Poor Veronica went 4 days without pooping and I had to provide her some "assistance." We have an appointment tomorrow and will ask the Dr. what we should do. They are still on Prevacid which is supposed to make their stomach acids burn less when they come back up - but they still come back up. So sometimes their sleep is interrupted by uncomfortable spitting up of stomach acids - which results in some fussing and Jackson's "screams!" Poor kids. The binky seems to help some... so does a little cuddling and back-patting from mom or dad. :-)
Well, I've waxed on enough...
Merry Christmas, everyone!
You should be proud of yourself!! That's great you are getting out! The picture is so cute! Love their outfits, and I can't believe one is sleeping (is that Veronica?)!
ReplyDeleteWhat formula are they on now? Sounds like you have a great routine down. Good job momma!
Santa looks like he's enjoying himself while holding the twins. How cute!! Sounds like you have a great schedule and even have time to enjoy them. That is great. We enjoyed Christmas here this past Sunday the 21st. We had a great time and it was all about Maggie lol. She was great and we had a ball. Just wait til next year. Although it sounds like you enjoying them now. Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteHee hee - I know it's hard to tell from the photo... Jackson is the one sleeping! Veronica is usually more alert and Jackson is usually the one chillin'!
