Life update

Guess I've been MIA for a while... We have a lot going on!

My department scheduled the interviews for my boss' job, and Dick and I decided it would be better if I didn't take the job. So I withdrew from the interviews. I thought I would be relieved but it actually made me upset the day I announced I was withdrawing. It only took a day or so to remember that it was the best thing to do. Of course, there were things about the job that I wanted. But this was the best decision for our family. And that job would have been VERY stressful! I've got it good with my part time situation.

Most of the reason we made this decision is because Dick got a new job! His company was not doing that well so he's been looking for a little while. He ended up with a great new job that he's really excited about. It's with the largest engineering consulting firm in the world. They have offices all over the world. (A big change from his current company of 25-ish employees.) The job is in downtown San Diego (so we'll be staying in San Diego for quite a while longer). And it's a raise. :-)

Therefore, since the kids will probably start school in San Diego (yes, they'll be five before we know it!) and we'll be able to pay a higher mortgage, we're probably going to move to someplace bigger in a better school district. We're meeting with a realtor tomorrow who we really trust. But of course, we've been looking at homes for a few weeks online. It's addicting! And exciting.

Too bad we don't have more time to spend preparing this house for sale. The kids make that very difficult! But we'll need to redo the bathroom, spruce up our bedroom and spruce up the yard before we can put this house up for sale. We just have to remember to do it as cheaply as we can while still staying true to the style and craftsmanship of the rest of the house. It will be sad leaving this house. We've put a lot of heart and soul into it...

Well, here are some photos.

Caught them sitting next to each other long enough for a few photos (amazing, right?)

Veronica's hair is getting longer. Jackson is as cute as ever.

  1. Wow! Lots of lifes plans all changed in a few weeks. Congrats to both of you. And house hunting is exciting - moving not so much! But looking is fun! Happy planning!

  2. WOW!! you have been busy!! Good luck on your house search.... talk about stressful, but also lots of fun. Life (job) decisions are always difficult. We're trying to decide when I should quit work (I've said nothing to family or friends) and it's a scary thing. Having to buy your own health insurance and no income are really scary for me. Especially since I have a perfectly good job right now... Things always work out for the best though. Love seeing the kids. Veronica's hair really is getting long and they're both getting so big. Randy had a hat "fetish" if you want to call it that when he was that age. Always putting stuff on his head.
