Great Christmas Weekend

I already mentioned how we became tourists in our own city Thursday by accidentally going to the Maritime Museum. Well, our fun continued all weekend. Although, right now I'm having trouble remembering what we did Friday...? Huh. Oh well. Of course Saturday was Christmas, and the kids had a ball! And so did mommy and daddy watching them have fun!

We ate breakfast before opening presents because we wanted everyone to be sustained, and not grumpy because of hunger. When the kids opened their first presents they wanted to put them together and play with them. They thought it was cool to get a new toy! Then... we showed them that there were more presents. OH! They got the hang of opening presents soon, and especially Veronica started to just want to open MORE - even if it was mommy or daddy's present! It was sweet. The recycling truck, basketball hoop, cutting board/fruit, broom and backpack were all hits! We Skyped with my mom, then took a short walk with our "new to us" shopping carts, then home for lunch and nap.

After nap, we Skyped with Dick's family. Then, we Skyped with my mom, sister and family while J and V opened MORE presents! From that point on (until still today) Jackson is carrying around a car from Christoper in one hand and a train from grandmama in the other!

Oh, also, grandmama got the kids a Christmas Story book with her voice reading it to them! We listened to that last night. :-)

Sunday we decided to do something fun outside the house and took a trolley ride to Old Town. The kids thought it was really cool to ride a train! We had Mexican food for lunch and then took the trolley back to our car. The kids love rice and beans but boy do they make a mess eating them! They do a good job but... rice and beans for a toddler - not easy!

Yesterday afternoon Dick and I suffered through a losing Chargers game. Then we hung out more with the kids.

It was a really great weekend! I'm sure the kids were happy to get back to their usual routine today, though.

I'm giving myself until after New Year's to start planning our move, looking for temporary housing and ... ugh... packing. :-)

  1. Wouldn't it wonderful if we didn't have to go back to work. :) I've had two weeks with 3 work days and 4 off. Lots of people at work took advantage of that and took more time off... My dept was too busy but that's okay, summer sun and fun for me. Glad your Christmas was so much fun :)
