Strange combination of "things"

Three things have been going on with the kids and they converged in a strange way yesterday.

First of all, they are getting into some gross potty talk.  I've heard it's a way they get out creativity and push boundaries, and some of it is ok.  We don't allow it in public or at the dinner table (for any meal!)

Secondly, Veronica has expressed some interest in making lists lately.  A week or so ago she actually wrote a list (it was scribbles).  Then she pretended on a few different occasions that it was a list of this or that.  And she would read down the list and say, "check" after each item as if she was crossing things off her "to do" list.  (Yes, Dick loves to tease me about how she takes after me!)

Lastly, the kids are interested (on and off) in letter sounds and spelling words.  Yesterday I brought home these "Change-a-Sound Flip Books" that someone at work loaned me.  The have a picture and short word on each little booklet.  You can flip the first letter to change the word.  So one will say "cat" with a picture of a cat.  You flip half the page over and it now says "bat" with a picture of a bat.

So...  yesterday, we're on our way to the dr to check out Veronica's second bout (in the past year) with strange bug bites.  (She's fine.  Never found out what type of bug bite they were.  Serves me right for expecting the dr to know more than I do!)  The kids were in the back seat looking at the flip books.  They were getting a little slap-happy/giggly with (pretty gross) potty talk.  Then Veronica starts flipping one of the flip books and says, "poop on the cat, check!"  "Poop on the bat, check!"  "Poop on the scissors, check!"  "Poop on the dog, check!"

I must have been lost in the giggle-loop with them because I started cracking up!  It was so cute the way she was saying, "check!"  And they would both start cracking up!

Sometimes you just gotta let them play together, and enjoy that they're getting along and having fun!
