3-day potty training saga!

I was updating Facebook during our potty training adventures because it's easy. Here are my short and raw updates:

Fri, July 15:
Well, here we go... 3-day potty training bootcamp starts tomorrow! Wish us luck!

Sat, July 16, 1pm:
Potty training bootcamp 1/6 over! Kids down for nap - thank goodness, I get a break! Pee on living room carpet, bedroom carpet, kitchen floor, and ALL over the bathroom floor. But J has peed in potty twice, V four times! Stickers are good motivators so far. J MUCH more resistant - no surprise there... But we're doing it! :-)

Sat, July 16, 10pm:
Day 1 is over! Both woke up dry from their nap! Had to switch to candy for motivation. NOW, J will finally sit on the potty. More and more pee all over the house. But the suffering now will pay off in the end. Trying to keep our eyes on the prize.

Mon, July 18, morning:
Vertigo. Ever have it? Don't. Woke up yesterday with dry heaves if I tried to move too far. So dizzy i could hardly walk without holding onto the walls. Trip to bathroom was terrible! Trip to urgent care bad. It's slowly wearing off. Put a big damper on potty training. But kids are doing ok. Still peeing all over the house. Waiting for them to "get it."

Mon, July 18, 10pm:
Day 3 of potty training SUCKED ASS. Don't ever try to potty train twins. Just diaper them forever. It's gotta be better. How are you supposed to "stay positive" and "pile on the praise" when they're pissing all over your house and refusing to sit on the darned toilet!? Back to work tomorrow so maybe our nanny will do it all for me!? :-)

Wed, July 20, morning:

3-day potty training: Day 4. Still frustrating. Every day there are moments of success and moments of wanting to give up. V pooped on potty twice! Awesome! Both had a dry nap. But both are still telling me "I have to pee" right as they pee all over the floor!

V got a cool toy for pooping on the potty so maybe that will motivate J. Both cried and got up during the night to pee. But J is soaked this morning. V *might* be dry - don't know yet, haven't been in her room in a few hours. Will reevaluate again tonight...

Fri, July 22:

3-day potty training: day 7. Woke up Thursday morning and told Dick I think we should throw in the towel. He said, "Let's give it through the weekend." I grudgingly agreed to at least one more day. Changed my technique a bit. And... no accidents all day Thursday! Couldn't believe it! The kids are finally accepting the potty!

Just got home from work and nanny told me the kids both pooped in potty today! One accident all day. Yay! I think we may make it through this! Next week: carpet cleaning (or maybe that's still too soon!?) :-D

  1. Like I said on FB - the progression is hilarious!! They will NOT be in college with diapers!! My friend's son went to kindergarten and sometimes he had accidents so back then they wore rubber pants over the underpants to protect from accidents. Another kid said "what's that noise?" (the rustle of his rubber pants) - he never had another accident from that day forward. So kindergarten.... that's not so far off lol Peer pressure is HUGE!!
