Wow, time flies. It's been two weeks since we did the potty training bootcamp. Like everyone says something did "click" with the kids. After a week they had very few accidents. Now, pretty much none! That is, during the day. Naptime they are consistently dry. Nighttime, pretty consistently wet. Veronica has woken up dry in the morning three days out of the last two weeks. Jackson, once. I believe it was Friday morning that they both woke up dry. I knew not to expect it to happen again, but it was great!
It's hard to know what to do. Most of the moms I know put the kids in diapers/pull-ups at night, and nighttime dryness came anywhere to a few week to over a year later! A few people I know (Dick and our nanny Chela) think we should keep going diaperless at night and let it ride... They feel this will encourage nighttime dryness whereas diapers at night could give a mixed message and discourage nighttime dryness. Not sure what I think! I guess things are fine for now. I'm doing a "study" to determine what time they're peeing at night. So far, when I check on them before I go to bed (usually around 10 or 11 after their 7:30/8 bedtime) Jackson is often wet already, V is usually dry. Veronica seems to go in the morning. So I'm thinking I could try to catch her in the morning. And maybe catch him at night? But I'm pretty sure Jackson is just a heavy sleeper and that's why he doesn't wake when he has to go.
We're limiting liquids in the evenings.
We'll see how it goes. So far, after a challenging first week (to say the least!) I'm feeling really good about the progress we've made. So good, that I put the rug back in the bathroom and I'm planning to get the carpets cleaned this week! :-)
