Jackson has been a challenge lately... He goes from happy to upset in seconds over any little thing! He will refuse to go potty, refuse to brush his teeth, refuse to come to the dinner table or to eat! I've had some success in turning things around but there are plenty of times I just want to yell and scream and/or take him to his room and leave him there!
Some of the most frustrating times have been when he won't get out of bed. Some days he wakes up slowly and will just sit in his crib for an hour - just sit. Sometimes he will rock a little which is his self-soothing mechanism. He will also not want to leave the house sometimes, and will refuse to get his shoes on and get in the car. :-(
I have a plan, I guess, to find some better understanding and tools for dealing with these issues. I'm starting to read "Raising Your Spirited Child." And I have an appointment with a child behaviorist in three weeks.
Aside from these challenges I'm trying to just spend time with and enjoy both kids.
A few nights ago at dinner, I asked Dick if he would like something and he said, "no, thank you." Then Jackson said to him, "Good manners, daddy!" It was cute.
