Circumcision

Jackson was circumcised today. I'm sure it was harder on us than it was on him. We were not in the room at the time but can see the results... not pretty. I'm sure it'll look better in a few days.

Otherwise, today was a fine day. I am doing quite well at enjoying the babies and spending time holding and talking to them instead of doing dishes, cleaning the bathroom, writing thank you notes, folding laundry and all the many other things on my "to do" list. Spending time with the babies is more important and I'm trying to ignore the other crap because I know this time will go by so fast!

I'm also making a mental list of the things that calm the babies when they are fussy. Being held always makes them feel better. The swing also works well. And putting them on their tummies. And this is so cute: they are always calmed by being next to each other. I put them on the couch on a moon-shaped pillow, right next to each other. And they calm right down and fall asleep together. It's so sweet...

Oh yeah... the dr said not to worry about Veronica's belly button. He said it is indeed herniated. That means that there is a hole in the connective tissue between her stomach muscles - right where her belly button is. It is open during pregnancy because it needs to be in order for the nutrients to get through the umbilical cord. Anyway, hers is not closed yet. Her intestines are popping through the hole a bit. The hole is small and the dr said it will likely close up on it's own. The worst that could happen is that the intestine that is going through the hole twists. He said to watch for it getting bigger or changing color or for it to bother her. Probably, that won't happen and she'll be fine. I sure hope so. She grunts so darn much it makes me paranoid that she'll make it worse. The dr didn't seem concerned about her grunting tho...

  1. You're right to not worry about that other 'stuff'. It will wait, but the babies will grow up FAST! Jackson looks pretty content after what he went through today. There's a saying that a home has to be clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be happy.

  2. You've done a great job on this blog. I'm proud of you and I think you're really gonna love it later. After our vacation I look back and the blog is done and I can enjoy rereading it, if I left it up to scrapbooking then I'd still have all that to do. Put everything here, it is so easy as you have found out.

siteseer is right... we all need to be exposed to those lil dirt bugs so we can be tough when we grow up... but I know its tough to relax about the chores...

  5. Hi Jen - don't publish this comment! I just didn't know your email address to get this message to you. I gave your blog address to Linda Barrett and explained how to leave a comment then I went through yours to make sure it was right. If you could change your settings then an anonymous person (one that doesn't have a gmail acct) can leave a comment. On your dashboard under 'settings' then under 'comment' it asks 'who can comment?' if you click 'anyone - includes anonymous users.' I told Linda that if she leaves a comment this way then she should identify herself in the text of the comment. Otherwise I think you can click back on their comment to see where the comment came from.
