Oct 20!

Yesterday was a big day! Oct 20 was the babies' due date. :-) So they are officially one day old today in "corrected age." With preemies, their development is gauged according to their corrected age. So if babies usually learn to smile when they are 2 months old, since these two were 2 1/2 months early, they'll likely learn to smile when they are 4 1/2 months old - or 2 months corrected age. So I'm considering them newborns, of course. (Although, they do kinda smile now - but I'm told it's because they have gas bubbles! Whatever the reason, it's adorable!)

Yesterday was also daddy's first day back to work! Both yesterday and today we ventured out of the house but it's NOT easy! By the time I get them fed and diapered, attempt to feed myself, brush my teeth (at least) and brush my hair, it's almost time to feed them again! They eat about every 3 hours. And it takes 1 to 1.5 hours to feed them. :-) The hardest part of taking care of them alone is when they both need me at the same time! Today we ran an errand and it was time to eat when we got home. Both were crying and fussing at the same time and I had to decide who to feed first and who to leave fussing with a pacifier on the couch next to us. I've tried to feed them both at the same time but that's still a challenge. They each really need my full attention... and I have to stop feeding both when one needs to burp. I hope feeding them at the same time will get easier later... it's so hard to help one of them and leave the other in need tho - it breaks my heart sometimes!

  1. They're learning how to share really early. That's gotta be hard on you though to hear them fuss, but you only have 2 hands.
