Honk honk!

Here's a funny story about something Veronica did last week when our family was in town. The kids, Dick's family and I were walking to the park together (Dick was at work). The kids were in the wagon, looking cute with their hats on and sippy cups in hand. We were crossing the street at a crosswalk while traffic waited, and the first vehicle at the light was a semi truck from Von's, our local grocery store.

Veronica was excitedly doing the sign for "car" while we crossed the street. The sign is your hands in front of you as if on a steering wheel (at 3 and 9), moving them alternately up and down. But she had a sippy cup in one hand so she was just doing this move with one hand. With only one hand it looked like the hand signal that people (usually kids) give to truckers when they want them to honk their horns!

So, of course there was a semi *right* in front of us! Scarily right in front of us. Veronica had been doing the signal for a moment or two and there was silence as I imagine the truck driver was considering what to do. I'm sure he was hesitant to honk since we were so close. After a few seconds, he gave this very light "honk honk!"

It was so cute. Of course the kids didn't know what was going on. But all us adults thought it was really funny and cute. :-)
