The food "trick" that's working for us right now is that they want to eat whatever we're eating. So, when I feed them, I get some for myself too (not good for my caloric intake!) Today, Veronica was really loving califlower! So cute. It actually all started a few weeks ago when I was snacking on some pickles while feeding them dinner. They wanted some so I gave them some - and now they love pickles! They'll also eat one of my favorite salads of cooked beets, feta cheese and balsamic vineagrette. Can't get them to eat asparagus yet... We try some new things but really stick to the usuals - popcorn chicken, pasta, cheese, green beans and carrots.
Veronica is doing a new thing. Whenever Jackson takes a toy from her she gets angry and points repeatedly to her chest saying, "shh shh shh shh." I think she's saying "share" possibly. We don't talk about sharing too much but maybe the nanny does? I've heard it's better to focus on "taking turns" - very short turns. I've tried it once with limited success... I'm sure it'll be something we deal with for a long time...
They are saying and signing a lot more all the time. They will pretty much try to repeat every word you say. (But all animals are still dogs or bears! They won't acknowledge those poor farm animals!) We're also spending a lot of time on pee pee, poo poo and diapers. I'm pretty sure Veronica told me the other day that she pooped. And they come with me to the bathroom all the time - it's very fun! They try to peek between my legs and see what's going on! Then when I flush we all say bye bye to the pee pee (or poo poo!) No matter what's actually in the toilet, Jackson always says, "bye bye poo poo!" :-D Very funny and cute.
They are putting phrases together now. I'm not sure when it happened! One that I can think of is "where'd he go?" And of course there's the aforementioned greetings to bodily functions!
Here are a few of our 18 month photos:

They are absolutely adorable!!
ReplyDeleteThey are adorable. You must get so much pleasure watching them grow. And watching them learn.... there's nothing like it. Sharing is very hard. I know when it's at Maggie's house - someone is visiting - and she has to do all the sharing... where's the fairness in that lol. It's hard to get the concept that that child will share when you go to their house. Maybe :)
