A first for everything

We had another first yesterday. Jackson got a bloody nose! I was out front with the two of them, which I normally don't do because it's too hard to keep them both corralled, but my neighbor's daughter was here and I wanted to talk to her. I was holding Veronica I think when Jackson was walking down the driveway, and his head was going faster than his feet and he fell! I didn't go right away but he was crying which he usually doesn't so I went over to him. And then I noticed his nose was bleeding! Poor little guy. He must have hit his nose when he fell...

The story continues when I was holding and comforting him and looked down at Veronica who had some debris on her face. I deduced that she was eating some of the berries from our tree. The berries look just like dried blueberries. Dick looked the tree up online and determined that the berries are only poisonous if eaten in large quantities. If she ate any it was only a few. I'm sure they didn't taste like blueberries!

Today, everyone is fine. :-)

And I realize that I think I forgot to record Veronica's first bloody lip. It was a few months ago. Maybe I mentioned it... That happened in the house.

It's so sad seeing your little ones bleeding. :-(

  2. Wow! We haven't had more than bruises yet - scary and SAD!

Do you think you're going to use harnesses for them when you're out walking? I think I'm going to have to. I still can't imagine even letting them out of the stroller when I'm alone with them!!

  3. Celeste - I tried the harnesses once (we bought some used off another twin mom a few months ago). They weren't that effective because the kids were such new walkers (still are) that they tried to go in opposite directions. Then I was there in the middle with my arms outstretched in two directions wondering what to do next! I think once they're older and somewhat understand, "hey, we're all going in THIS direction," they may work.

I have no qualms about using them if they keep the kiddos safe. :-)
