Ok, I've never done this before so I'm going to see if I can pull this off. I'm trying to post a button from another website (Multiples and More) and answer some questions about how we named our twins. (Veronica Kathleen and Jackson Richard!)
How did you choose your multiples' names? We had a very long process to pick names. It orbited around a spreadsheet that we added and added to, then narrowed down with little exercises. When the babies came 10 weeks early, we had it narrowed down to two boy names and two girl names. So the final decision was a quick one in the hospital.
* Did you stick with family names? Not for first names but middle names, yes. Veronica's middle name is my mom's name. Jackson's middle name is Dick's dad's name.)
* How do you feel about "matchy" names? I was not totally averse to them. I thought about Harper and Harrison but Dick didn't like the name Harper. I can understand some of the arguments against names starting with the same letter, though.
* Did you worry about their names "coordinating?" Not really.
* Did you name your babies before you met them, or wait until you saw them to assign names? Before we met them. It's funny, though, because last month I told a friend of ours that Veronica was almost named Bianca and she thought that Veronica totally looks like a Bianca! I kind of agree. She would make a really cute Bianca.
* What were your second choices? Bianca and Harrison
* Did you consider the popularity of a name as a deciding factor? I absolutely did not want a popular name. My name is really popular among people my age. (We had five Jennifer's in my fifth grade class.) As it turns out Jackson is a pretty popular name. Veronica is not as popular but I've been hearing it more and more lately. "V" names for girls are quite popular. My friend has a Vivian. And our nanny has previously taken care of a Victoria and a Vanessa.
Great names! And Great nicknames! I think I have a Grunty and a Chubbs as well.
ReplyDeleteCute...Love the names!!! Although, I am quite curious as the to meaning behind the Grunty and Chubbs!
ReplyDeleteThis is cool Jen - I had wondered how you and Dick decided to name the babies and now I know.. While I've never met them, I think they've grown into their names.
ReplyDeleteFunny... my name is Jenny (not Jennifer) but I felt the same way as well in naming our twins!
ReplyDeleteI love hearing how everyone picks their names. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI like all your names Jennifer! Your second choices are really cute, but now that your babies have the names they do, I can't imagine them as anything else!
ReplyDeleteVery cute names...and I love the nicknames too! Your babies are cuties!
ReplyDeleteYou family is adorable!

Love the names. I thought I was using different names too, but Becki had 3 Becki's in our carpool. Interesting that both boys names were Presidents :) A nephew had a son that month too and is Lincoln. So we have two presidents in one month :)
ReplyDeleteWow! A Spreadsheet! I don't know how to use one, or else I probably would have done one, too! I had notes saved on the computer!
