Like father like son

We keep the laundry room gated off so the kids can't get back there. The main reason for this is because the litter box is there. So are the pet food and water bowls. But sometimes a baby gets back there before we remember to pull the gate closed in the morning or after naps.

Today I was changing Veronica's diaper when I realized that I hadn't closed the gate and I thought I heard Jackson in the laundry room. Sure enough I walked back there to find him grabbing a kibble of dog food and eating it! :-) So funny. Jackson wouldn't come with me willingly out of the room at that point and I was holding Veronica so I walked into the kitchen to put her down and came back to the laundry room to grab Jackson. In the few seconds I was gone, he had decided he liked dog food and grabbed a handful, intent on having it for breakfast!

I managed to pry it out of his hand but I'm pretty sure he ate at least a few pieces. I let him. Whatever... I had heard that Dick ate a fair bit of dog food when he was a kid but today he clarified the story by telling me he clearly remembers doing it A LOT when he was SIX and SEVEN years old!

  1. Dick turned out okay, so I'm sure a few kibbles now and then can't be all bad.

  2. Hahahaha...Maggie has only eaten really stale cat food out of the garbage (she can't reach the dish). She's never bothered with the litter box...
