Ok, the twins will be waking from their nap any minute so I'll try to get in a report on our visit with Debbie, Mike, Sean and Topher last week. (Mike is Topher's dad.)
It was really nice to have them staying with us even though we really don't have the room! Debbie slept on the couch, Sean on a chair and Mike and Topher in the tent! It was tight but it was nice to have them close. Debbie and family were really great about keeping the place picked up and keeping quiet when the babies were sleeping (12 hours per night and 3 hours of naps per day - that's a lot of quiet - esp for a 4 year old!)
Topher really liked his cousins and our pets too! Pig (one of our cats) got carried around a lot! But he's a tolerant cat and didn't seem to mind too much. Topher is a sweetheart! He's a real cutie pie and very funny! And a good kid. He helped me feed the cats, he picked up after himself... and he made us all laugh a lot!
Sean is a really good kid too. Being almost 17 he probably would have rather been home with his friends "hanging out." He did a LOT of texting... But he was present at moments too and those were fun! Veronica really took a liking to him! And having a 4 year old brother, Sean is really good with the babies.
We did lots of sightseeing - went to Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, La Jolla to see the seals, and Sea World. The babies only came along to Sea World. The other trips they stayed home with daddy while I went out with the family. We also stayed home and hung out a lot too. Debbie had a great time with the babies and helped feed them a lot. (They are ALWAYS eating - well, when they're not napping!)
We did have one unfortunate incident... I loaned my car to them so they could drive 30 miles to Carlsbad to attend Mike's nephew's wedding. After they left I got an apologetic phone call from Debbie telling me they had been in an accident. Debbie got some pretty good bruising but otherwise, no one was hurt. Except the car... it has some pretty good front end damage and will be in the body shop for the next month! Mike was driving and he felt really bad. Driving in a strange city and all... Ahh well... whatcha gonna do?
The accident happened Wednesday and Dick was out of town for 2 days so we took a few days to recover and then started up with the sightseeing again on Friday. Can't let an accident keep us from enjoying our rare occasion to visit and see San Diego!
I'll post a few more photos when I get a chance.
