Speaking of meat...

I decided it was time to feed the babies some meat. So I boiled some chicken breast, cooled it and blended it with some water. GROSS! It looked like vomit... but I froze it in the ice cube tray and put it in a ziploc in the freezer when it was frozen. Hadn't given any to the babies yet...

Monday when I came home from work the nanny told me she tried to give them some chicken but they didn't like it. I guess Jackson especially made this horrified look and refused to eat it!

Later that afternoon, I gave them some chicken mixed with pureed green beans and some oatmeal cereal. They didn't mind it that way. :-)

I've read that dark meat is especially good for babies because it has more fat and iron. I'll try that next time.

Shannon - we have had a new nanny now for a week and we love her! Sadly, the babies are usually asleep both when she gets here and when I get home from work. But the few times I've seen them together the babies seem to like her. AND... she cleans the house! We asked her to do some light housekeeping when the babies are asleep (like wash diapers and baby clothes) but she has been cleaning the whole kitchen, vacuuming, sweeping, making our bed (!)... she even cleaned the front of our stainless steel appliances in the kitchen! Wow... I like her a lot, who cares if the kids like her? Just kidding!! She's a mom and has worked for 2 sets of baby/toddler twins. I hope she stays with us for years!

  1. That is great to hear about the new nanny!! We love ours and she does the same thing as far as cleaning up and stuff. We treat her really well to make sure we don't lose her! It's only because of her that I feel confident going to court and not at home all the time. The only complaint I have is that the dog likes her too much and cries for an hour every time she leaves!! I am excited that in a few months I'll be figuring out all the foods for Olivia to try. I can't wait to have my own vomit-like mixture of watery chicken for her to try!

  2. Sounds like a good match on the nanny lol. What would you do if the babies were sleeping... pick you nose? And in defense of the babies I don't think I'd like chicken without any seasoning or anything. Come on now!!

  3. wooooooooooooow about the nanny. how fabulous???

i've been giving these guys meat for about a month. i make scrambled egg yolks, which they like, and we use the crock pot to cook whole chicken overnight. It's so soft when it's done. I shred it and let them eat it as finger food, and I also mix it with veggies. we also made chicken ala king, and they liked that a lot.

    bon appetite!

  4. A few friends tried making their own meat pureed baby food, and it just didn't work out for them. I gave some from Earth's Best- they have fancy schmancy stuff :) And then I would give them little bits of shredded chicken.

Yay for the new nanny! We will be looking for one too. I hope we can find a good one!
